James L. Escobedo

Associate Immigration Attorney

Mr. Escobedo is originally from Rhode Island. His parents are immigrants from Cuba and Guatemala. He attended Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina as a Bonner Community Scholar and graduated in 2014 with a major in political science. After graduation, Mr. Escobedo worked with migrant farmworkers in Dudley, NC with the Farm Labor Organizing Committee through the AFL-CIO. That experienced combined with Mr. Escobedo’s interest in community organizing inspired him to apply for law school.

Mr. Escobedo enrolled in Roger Williams University School of Law as a public interest scholar. While in law school, Mr. Escobedo worked with Rhode Island Legal Services in their public housing unit defending low-income families’ rights to affordable housing. He additionally worked with Rhode Island Center for justice on various projects with those involving private landlord/tenant disputes, wage theft claims, and bail reform. He also spent two years working with Providence Youth Student Movement on their community defense project. During his final year in law school, James worked in the Roger William University’s immigration clinic focusing on political asylum claims and Special Immigrant Juveniles.

Mr. Escobedo graduated law school in 2019 and has worked in immigration ever since. He is a member of the Missouri bar, American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the National Lawyers Guild.
